Kurdish Youth Club

Preface
We the members of Kurdish Youth Club have organized
established and continuously worked since 2002 to help develop a bond and a
clear understanding of who the Kurds are through numerous activities that
brought back to life the Kurdish Culture. Through many seminars we tried to educate
the general public of realities in Kurdistan.
Kurdish Youth Club has maintained its independence thus far and will thrive to
do so in the future. Our membership is wide and diverse it is highly tolerant
to many backgrounds. Kurdish Youth Club finds in its ranks members from the
many different parts of Kurdistan, the many
different dialect and religious affiliation. Our membership has historically
and will continuously be extended to non-Kurds and they are encouraged to be
involved. As an organization developed by the youth we thrive to work for the
youth as a priority as we develop further in the Diaspora. Encouraging the youth
generally and the Kurdish youth specifically to self-improve and help
themselves. Kurdish Youth club is a home for many of us where we have found our
new brother and sisters. Relation between us is based on trust, love and respect.
We work hard as a team and as siblings to achieve our noble goals.
Article I: Our name
This organization shall be named Kurdish Youth Club or KYC.
Article II: Affiliation
1. Kurdish Youth
Club is independent and not affiliated with any other organization. All
KYC chapters are/will be affiliated with each other through a council for the
chapters.
2. No part of the net earnings of the organization shall inure to the
benefit of, or be distributable to its members, trustees, officers, or other private
persons, except that the organization shall be authorized and empowered to pay
reasonable compensation for services rendered and to make payments and
distributions in furtherance of the purposes set forth in the purpose clause
hereof. (Constitutional Amendment adopted on March 1st 2009)
Article III:
i. Our Mission
1.The Purpose of the Kurdish Youth Club shall be
to create a bridge between Kurds, Kurdish Americans, Americans, and other Nations.
2. This organization will also serve as a venue to promote Kurdistan
and the Kurdish culture.
3. Raise awareness about Kurdistan and get the truth out about Kurdistan.
4. Motivate and support the youth to better their lives and become more
involved and aware of their heritage.
5. Provide a network of support and mentorship for the developing youth to self
improve their lives.
6."There are more to Kurdistan than those wars imposed on her"
Kurdish Culture and people are unique and color full; our mission is to better
show all aspect of Kurdish Culture, Kurdish people, Kurdish Heritage, and
Kurdish Land.
7. Utilize new technology and ideas which are acquired by the Youth in Diaspora
to achieve our goals.
8. Prepare and mold the Youth to become leaders and pioneers of the
future.
9. Promote diversity and involvement with
different communities and organizations in the USA.
ii. Our Working Principle
Our working Principle finds it self in the following acronym
(GROW). GROW is shortened for Goal Realty Option and Will. KYC solves its
problem in this format first it creates a goal then it deals with the realities
that already exists and look into the different options that can lead to the
goal while taking realty into account, and finally with strong will the work is
done.

Article IV:
i.
Membership
a) Membership in Kurdish Youth Club is open to
all youth that wish to share our dream which is stated in (Article III,i) and
pursue this dream through our working principal.
b) One becomes a member after they fill-out member application and complies
with membership dues that are set forth by the council.
c) Members have the right to self-nominate for council, and executive board.
They also have right to nominate Advisers.
d) Members vote and elect the council and executive board.
e) Members can create team and become team leaders.
d) Have the right to propose any idea through proposal sheet so it can be kept
on record or bring them up in meetings.
e) Members can request investigation of Council and Executive Board, and all
their questions must be answered with in a month of request officially.
f) There is an application fee of $20.00
g) Monthly memberships fee for under 18 years of age members is $5.00 a month
and it is $10.00 for those members 18 years of age and higher. Fees for the
year can be paid in one lump sum if the member chooses.
h) All KYC members will be given a KYC ID.
i) Members can loose their membership status only if they don't comply with the
goals set forth by the constitution. The council will place such member on
probation for a period of three month and if non-compliance continues
individuals can loose their membership right without refund of their due and
application fee. Such decision requires a 2/3 vote from the council.
ii. Honorary members
a) these are supporters of KYC who cannot become a full member because they
can't meet one of the criteria of membership.
b)Honorary members can make donations with KYC members as mentioned in Article
IV, i, e and IV,i,f.
c) Honorary members can be either accepted through their own request or
Honorary member status can be awarded to individuals who has showed support to
KYC.
d) The council recognized honorary members and has the authority to take
individual off that list only if they weren't in compliance to goals set forth
by the constitution. Such decisions requires 2/3 vote.
e) Honorary members will receive an honorary member ID.
Article V: Officers
i. Board
of the Executives
Duties of this board is supervising the general functions of KYC and ensuring accomplishment
of KYC's mission. This board is composed of three branches. Board of the
Executive must all be of a Kurdish descent.
Members of Board of the Executives have voting power within the KYC's
Council. Board of the Executives is composed of three equal branches:
1) Secretary General
a) Duties of Secretary General are overseeing the general operation of KYC and
to ensure that the decisions of the Board of the council are being carried out.
Secretary General also makes member and honorary member ID, and most KYC
letters and certificates.
b) Has one vote in council
c) Elected through annual election
d) His/her name is on the KYC’s bank account.
e) Nominates third member to be on KYC’s bank
account, but the general voters must approve it through direct voting.
2)Secretary
of Treasury
a)Duties of secretary of Treasury is handling KYC's finances , providing paper
trail for all spending, and ability to handle bank statements for the
organization. They are also in charge of creating fundraising projects and
collection of member dues and application fee's.
b) Has one vote in council
c) Elected through annual election
d) his/her name must be on KYC’s bank account.
3) Secretary
of the Constitution
a) This post’s responsibility is major because it ensures that all tasks and
activities of KYC are within the framework of the constitution and the required
constitutional procedures are being followed.

ii.
Board of the Council
composed of a body of council members who make decisions for KYC and steer the
organizations directions.
1) Council has 4 permanent members that voters annually elect. The four
permanent council members must be of Kurdish descent. These permanent members
are encouraged to also start listing members as their assistants and any other
position that they can see as fitting for their aid. And they hold the
following posts:
a) Public
Relation and advertisement: this member is in charge of advertising for KYC, and KYC’s
numerous events.
b)
Activities Coordinator: this member assists team
leaders in their different needs and accepts team formation proposals and
introduces them to the council.
c)
Education promoter:
this member’s duties are to push forward KYC’s Promotion of Education and
self-improvement goal.
d) Historian: whose duties are to collect KYC’s
activities and be responsible for KYC’s history as it develops.
2) All team leaders are automatic members of the
council for duration of their team and they have one vote each.
3) Council votes on and all KYC decisions to
create solidarity among members no KYC member can independently carryout major
functions without prior knowledge of the council.
4) Council must meet minimum of twice a month.
Such meetings can be virtual or physical.
Article VI: Advisers
1.Advisors are those who can advice KYC council and executive board on general topic
and concerns. They should be able to answer general question and possibly give
suggestions to the Organization either through their own current or previous
experiences.
2. Advisers cannot be current KYC members but they can be honorary members.
3. Advisers number can't be less than 4 members and they can be contacted
individually as needed to either attend meeting or to answer question one on
one.
4. Advisers are nominated by members after election of new council, through
proposal sheet.
5. New elected council votes on the nominees and select the top 4 candidates by
simple majority vote.
6. Voting for all candidates is done at the same time.
7. Advisers are elected every year within one month of election of the new
council.
Article VII: Meetings
i. It is the Secretary General’s
duties to call meetings to adjourn and to keep record of all attendees and
topics of the meeting. All meeting result and contents must be public to be
viewed by all member and honorary members. Ensure that the council meets
at least twice every 31 days.
ii. All meetings should be called
preferably during the last meeting if not; meetings must be announced 5 days in
advanced.
iii. Board of Council
1.Meets at the minimum of twice every 31 days preferably in person if not through
phone or Internet. Its is highly recommended that they meet once a week via
telephone or in person.
iv. General Member meetings
1. They are open to member and honorary members, and advisers.
2. Must be called a week in advanced at the minimum.
3. They can be virtual or in person.
v. Adviser

1. They are based on the comfort of the advisor.
2. Meeting request must be send a week in advanced minimum.
3. They can be in person or virtual.
4. They are held with permission of the council.
5. Single council member or multiple council members can meet with one or few
of the advisers.
Article VIII. Quorum
1. Each KYC project must have a team that is in
charge of its deliverance.
2. KYC team is composed of minimum of 5 members
including the team leader and no maximum number of members. Different projects
may take different time length and require different number of work force.
3. Teams can be created by any member or Honorary member after completion of
Team formation request paper and the council's approval of the team.
Article IX. Referendum and Recall
i.Vote
recount
1. Members have the right to check on council and to call for either recount of
votes or re-voting of election only not votes with in the council.
2. Vote recount request must be called within one week of election through
filing vote recount petition that has to be signed by minimum of four members.
ii. Re-election
1. Re-election can be called after requester proves in re-election form that
the council is failing to meet KYC's mission and goal.
2. Re-election form must be signed by at least 5 members with good standing
membership status (they have met all membership requirements for the three
months).
Article
X. Constitutional Amendment
1. Request of change in the constitution should
be through proposal sheet.
2. Proposal sheet must be completed and sent to the secretary of the
constitution 1 month prior to voting time.
3. Voting on constitutional change is done at the same day as election of new
council but prior to voting on the council.
4. New secretary of the constitution is required to add the new changes.
5. Proposal is voted on after dissociation, and votes are counted by three
members with good standing position.
6. Proposal passes with 2/3 vote from all previous members prior to the
term.
7. Voters must have been members of KYC for at least three month to vote on
constitutional changes.
