Kurdish Youth Club Cosponsor Newroz 2008 In Nashville TN
On Sunday March 23, Kurdistan Cultural Institute, in
association with Kurdish Youth Club, held a Newroz Party in Nashville,
Tennessee. The celebration began at 6:00 PM with the Kurdish National Anthem,
followed by opening remarks by Mihamad Ibrahim, president of Kurdistan Cultural
Institute. Following the speech, singers Diyar Bakir and Alan Karkuki, along
with musician Makwan Jabar, performed for the crowd. The party was concluded at
12:00AM.

Anfal Seminar 2008 Emory University & Georgia State University
In remembrance of the Anfal campaign
Kurdish Youth Club held two seminars on this subject. The seminars were
held at two Prominent Atlanta universities: Georgia State University on
April 24 2008 and Emory University on April 25 2008. Both seminars were
attended largely by students and faculty of the schools. The audience
ranged from, undergraduate students, graduate students, professors,
journalist, war veterans, lawyers and other citizens.

Global Peace Festival in Washington D.C
On August 9, 2008, members of the KYC-DC joined members of the
Kurdistan Student Organization and other Kurds in the area for the
annual Global Peace Festival in Washington D.C. It is a festival that
helps to facilitate an understanding between the countless cultures
that exist in the area, as well as provide a venue for groups to
perform cultural dances, sing songs, and set up booths that discuss the
origins of their heritage.

Kurdish Youth Festival 2010
Kurdish Festival is a celebration of Kurdish Heritage in the
United States. The festival will stretch a span of three days. During
which, Kurds and non-Kurds, from a variety of backgrounds and across the
U.S. will gather in Atlanta, Georgia. The festival will take place
during the weekend of Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial on January 15,
16, and 17, 2010.
Kurdish Festival will be a gathering to
celebrate a heritage that has taken over 8000 years in making. During
which many aspects of Kurdish life will be brought to light; from
Kurdish film, literature, music, history, dance, and current events. The
Festival will also include self-building workshops in leadership,
fundraising and conflict management.
For the first time, Kurdish
Festival will bring together education and entertainment and set a new
standard. The festival will entertain with three evenings of music,
dance and party; featuring popular Kurdish singers and musicians. In
addition, it will conduct two full days of workshops and trainings.
In
a segment titled Kurds Got Talent, Kurdish Festival will host the
largest talent show across U.S. In which a variety of talents will
compete. The competition is open to all. Many Kurdish singers will be
invited to perform live and compete for the title of first Kurdish
Singer of 2010 in US. Kurds Got Talent will be a display of many
different aspects of Kurdish culture from its beautiful traditional
clothes to variety of poetry and modern songs, acting, and comedy. The
top three talents will be awarded accordingly. Please help us identify

The educational component of the
festival will include key figures in modern Kurdish politics, music,
history and literature. Attendees will be able to hear from those that
have influenced lives of Kurds either directly or indirectly. A
different aspect of the festival will expand to include small sized
workshops that will help the youth and attendees to better function,
organize and plan back in their own local organizations. Self-building
workshops will be about fundraising, conflict management and leadership.
They will be followed by discussion groups on many aspect of Kurdish
life such as history, current events, and literature.
During the
three days of nonstop learning and fun, Kurdish Festival will start a
tradition of celebration of Kurdish Heritage in the United States. We

Kurdish
festival is being organized by the members and friends of Kurdish Youth
Club (KYC). A 501(c)3 non-profit and independent Kurdish youth
organization dedicated to promoting Kurdish Culture and advocating for

Newroz Atlanta 2010
Congratulation to Kurds in Atlanta on Newroz It was a wonderful
event.
The nights program was hosted by Xatu Shiler Hamidian and Kake Ara
Alan

Newroz program started with Moment of Silence
Then Kurdish Youth brought in Kurdistan Flag in a ceremonious event
Followed and presented with Ey Reqib Kurdistan National Anthom
Kurdish Cultural Center Speech was presented in English by Mr Ahmad
Baran and Mr Hussein Aziz
Kurdish Youth Club Speech was presented by Mr Alan Showan.


The guests were then invited outside for Newroz Fire and they sand
Srudi Newroz outside
Back into the hall with blast of sound and dances.

The Kurds in a POTLUCK shared their various dishes and enjoyed a
happy dinner together
Followed into the hall. The gusts were informed about importance of
US Census and their participation as a Kurd.
Kurdish Cultural Center Daf group performed a walk through Kurdish
life from its sad moments to its up coming success.


More dance and music followed
At Midnight There was a talk about Kurdish Cook book (a project of
Kurdish Cultural Center) which was presented by Bahar Aran and Obekir
Orhan.
At the end of the night with a lucky draw from the tickets two
winners were given Kurdistan Flag as gifts of Newroz.
At the End we like to thank the support of our guests and the hard
work of the few that made it possible.

Remembering Halabja on 3-16-2010
KYC and KCC Members Remembered the horrible Gassing of Kurds on March 16 1988. This event was held at Kurdish Cultural Center on March 16 2010. Many of the members of the Kurdish Community participated along side of our Armenian brother and sisters. At this event two victims of Chemical Gas attack spoke. One, Omer Maruf, who was a peshmarga fighter that was injured by chemical gas on two different occasions. The other speaker was Farhad Sharif a resident of Halabja during the Genocide attack by Iraqi government.
