Halabja gas attack survivor reunited with mother

A man who as a baby survived a chemical attack on the Iraqi city of Halabja in 1988 has been reunited with his mother.


Ali Pour made his way back to Halabja after growing up in Iran

Ali Pour was taken to Iran by Iranian soldiers who stormed the Kurdish city days after the gas attack by Saddam Hussein's forces.

Mr Pour, now 21, had to wait for the results of a DNA test before it could be determined whose son he was.

His mother, whose husband and six other children had all died in the attack,

Dohuk, Iraq - A Kurdish archaeological expedition announced on Thursday that it had found a small statue of the ancient Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamen in northern Iraq, a Kurdish news agency reported.

On August 7th 2008 Kurdish Youth Club and Kurdish American Youth Organization of San Diego held a join seminar in that city. In the seminar they exchanged ideas and developed a better bond between KAYO-SD and KYC. The seminar was attended by San Diego youth and some members of the community. The discussions took place over cold beverages Kurdish paklava and cake made by the members.

Global Peace Festival in Washington D.C

On August 9, 2008, members of the KYC-DC joined members of the Kurdistan Student Organization and other Kurds in the area for the annual Global Peace Festival in Washington D.C. It is a festival that helps to facilitate an understanding between the countless cultures that exist in the area, as well as provide a venue for groups to perform cultural dances, sing songs, and set up booths that discuss the origins of their heritage.


On Sunday August 3rd 2008 Kurdish Youth Club in DC was formed.
